Emerick has an extensive amount of Seismic upgrades under our belts. We understand the process very well and have perfected many techniques over the years to speed up the duration of the renovations. Most of our upgrades have taken place in highly secured areas, confined spaces with accelerated schedules. Our teams have the knowledge to expedite the project and minimize impact to the surrounding area at the same time. Symantec, Whitman College, Clark College, Milwaukie MS and HS, HP South and North Campus, Five BPA Control Houses, Four BPA Buildings, Oregon State Dome and Oregon State Library to name a few.

Oregon State Capitol Dome Restoration

Oregon almost lost its legislative home. Fortunately damage from the earthquake was repairable, and we began an extremely demanding seismic retrofit of the main Rotunda. Steel-reinforced shear walls were installed from the ground floor to the base of the 105' dome. In the upper dome, we added 2,000 stainless steel bolts to secure the marble panels, 6" of Gunite onto the face of the brick walls, and two layers of steel reinforcement. We also took great care to preserve the building's historic features, including original 1938 marble veneer panels, ceiling tiles, and architectural woodwork.
