Oregon State Library Building Renovation

The structural retrofit to bring the 60-year-old facility up to current seismic, ADA, and building codes included foundation work for new elevator pits and pin piles, replacement floor framing, and slabs at new shaft areas and rooftop curbs. Steel plates and columns were used to create interior shear walls for seismic upgrades, and metal deck formed and supported the concrete slab infills.

Complex phasing and coordination with library staff was critical since regular operations continued throughout our renovation and historic restoration activities. Our work included selective interior demolition to make room for major M/E system upgrades, tenant improvements, exterior demolition for revised walk and entry stair configurations, a new elevator and an upgrade to the existing historic elevator.
